Review: Farruko Ft. Sean Paul & Wisin – Passion Whine (Remix)

Passion Whine Cover

Farruko and Sean Paul call up Wisin for the remix of “Passion Whine”, a slow tempoed latin-tropical track great for dancing closely. Not much changed besides the addition of Wisin, which isn’t a bad featuring. Wisin’s borderline screaming style is counteracted well by his soft singing portion which saves the remix from killing the original feel of the song. Overall, the remix of “Passion Whine” would be a great addition to anyone’s music library especially for those summer sunset one on one dances.

Review: Daddy Yankee – Ora Por Mi

Daddy-Yankee-Ora-Por-Mi-iTunes

I would like to first thank the producers at Artillery Music for using 808s on this track. Similar songs using trap beats have been attempted in the Reggaeton scene in the past and few have gotten close to what this Daddy Yankee track has accomplished. The instrumental uses samples, electric guitar and acoustic guitar combined with a great percussion with reverbing bass filled 808s that create a beat that alone would make a good song purchase.

Daddy Yankee’s flow matches up well with what Nely, Tainy and other producers at Artillery Music have created. The beat wasn’t wasted and Daddy Yankee’s flow was not left in vain with a subpar beat — an almost perfect single. “Ora Por Mi” is a must have for any Daddy Yankee fan, trap beat fanatic and those who simply love having tracks they can blast on long cruising sessions. Review: Carnage & Migos – Bricks

Bricks Carnage Migos

Carnage has talked about his collab with Atlanta-based rap trio, Migos, for awhile and it’s finally here. The song has met a lot of skepticism from both Carnage and Migos fans — each party saying the other sucks or is wack. After watching both the music video and listening to the song, it’s classic Migos. Take away Carnage’s name and it’s still a Migos track. The lyrics aren’t necessarily precious pieces of American poetry but, combined with the instrumental, create one hype and high energy track that is sure to please both Festival going Carnage fans and Trap houses across the land.

Music Video – “Bricks – Carnage ft. Migos

The only issue I see is the instrumental. I wish Carnage did a little something more with the instrumental besides what appears to be an extremely simple melody with a couple pitch changes here and there, which for trap is okay but, Carnage could of done better. Love it or hate it, “Bricks” is destined to be successful and played at the remaining festivals this summer and well into the end of the year.

Coone & Wildstylez Ft. Cimo Fränkel- This Is Home

Reviewed: Coone & Wildstylez Ft. Cimo Frankel – This Is Home (4:36)

STREAM BELOW

Two major producers in the Hardstyle scene came together for one hell of a track. For a Hardstyle tune, the track is far from dark with a positive, upbeat and energetic feel that still retains that hard hitting kick that just puts the track over the top. Cimo Frankel really comes through on the vocals, fitting in well with the feel and sound of the instrumental, creating a track that is well balanced in all aspects. The timing of this track is also on point, releasing right before summer really kicks off. “This Is Home” is definitely a track that belongs in your music library this summer. If you’re a DJ, Coone & Wildstylez’ collab is a set maker. We just wish there was an extended version but, that’s what repeat is for.

Sounds Of QDance @ Mysteryland USA (Event) [Review]

Another chapter has been written in the history of the sacred grounds of Bethel Woods, NY where 45 years ago thousands of people gathered for the famous Woodstock festival. Now in these same mountains thousands of privileged Nomads coexisted in harmony, peace and unity at the first Mysteryland USA. As soon as you set foot in the camping grounds and look onto the horizon, you are able to admire the festival and zone in on the orange Q dance tent bringing just a little more excitement to all the Hardstyle lovers who are moments away from their awaited destination. The journey starts from the camping ground as you walk down the hill, pass the campers market through the luscious woods to the campers entrance. After you clear security, your hike up the mountain begins with such anxiety and expectation as you soak in these famous grounds. Finally arriving at the Q Dance tent, it was time to face the truth and present. Kutski opened and the stage was completely full serving as an eye opener to the U.S. crowd that Hardstyle is here to stay. As the afternoon progressed, Brennan Heart made Hardstyle lovers remember why we fell in love with these fast beats in the first place. Sam /AudioFreQ was the chosen one to play both days. Sam is such an awesome person and we had the chance to catch up with him for a live interview that will be out soon. To close the night Coone stepped up to the stage and brought along Steve Aoki, an icon in the electronic music industry. Another interesting moment was when Steve Aoki gave Coone the opportunity to play at the main stage which was another important move in the expansion of Hardstyle. The last day of the festival brought a magical gathering at the orange tent. Wildstylez and McVillain gave a show that will live in our memories for years to come. AudioFreQ showed the fans how much he cares sharing his time among them and of course delivering when time to get down to business. Ran-D injected rawstyle and euphoric beats that only he knows how to tailor according to our needs. The closing set was of epic proportions! No other than the man himself Evil Activities was there to guide us through the darker and faster beats of Hardcore. Overall a great festival with great diversity

Review: Maleficent (2014)

MALEFICENT-poster

Reviewed: Maleficent – Digital 2D

At first, I was skeptical of Angelina Jolie playing the role of Maleficent but, after watching the movie, she did a pretty good job with the role. She was evil, funny and loving which made the movie both entertaining and memorable.

If you were a fan of “Sleeping Beauty” as was I, Maleficent is slightly different from what you may remember. Although the storyline may have a few twists and tweaks here and there, it still has the feel of a classic Disney movie without too much kid stuff (if that makes sense). The movie, in my opinion, appeals well to all audiences — although some moments may be a little tough for children to watch but, then again that is why its PG. I was surprised by the sheer number of times I laughed during the movie and the quality of the graphics — I really regretted not watching it in 3D.

Want a good movie to watch this weekend with the kids (or not), then make sure to catch Maleficent in theaters, its definitely a summer-must-watch.

Review: Brennan Heart @ Empire

Brennan Heart Springfield VA Empire

Reviewed: Brennan Heart @ Empire (5/23/2014)

Video below

It is always a good day when the crowd and the DJ seem to be in sync and that is what happened. Every time the beat dropped, the crowd erupted — I even saw some Jumpstyle dance and shuffling in the back which was nice to see. I am also proud to report that grinding was kept to a minimum, almost non-existant.

Most shows in the DC metro area occur at a handful of venues in Washington, D.C. but, Brennan’s show was the first ‘edm show’ I attended outside of DC — which was a nice change of pace. In general, the crowd differed from crowds you see at shows at other venues. The people there seemed to be there more for the music than anything else; you didn’t see girls taking selfies every 30 seconds and there were very few phones blocking one’s view during Brennan’s set. Although the venue was nice and the crowd was great, the lack of security both outside and inside of the venue was unsettling. I was never patted down and stage security was sort of weak. Luckily, there weren’t any altercations.

Overall, Brennan’s show was a great start to bringing Hardstyle headlining shows to Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas. I hope to see similar events at larger venues in the future.

Review: Godzilla (2014) [Action / SciFi]

Godzilla-2014-Poster-Wallpaper

Reviewed: Godzilla (2014) in IMAX 3D

To sum it up in one word (or two), Godzilla (2014) is BAD-ASS.

The 2014 adaptation of ‘classic’ Godzilla is based in the Pacific Ocean and surround areas, unlike the 1998 version based in New York City. At first, I was a bit skeptical, hearing a lot of negativity from fans but, after watching it, I would definitely go back and watch it again.

The production quality and especially the graphics were superb — almost elegant in nature. The most memorable moment where I was in awe of the graphics was when Godzilla emerged from a plume of dust and debris. There were a lot of moments, especially during the fighting scenes, where the sheer quality and badassery of the scene made me laugh followed by a “holy sh*t” or “wow” afterwords.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I did have some personal/fanboy issues with the story line; some characters don’t last as long as I imagined and there was a ‘way too dramatic’ scene where Godzilla is pronounced ‘Gojira’. It should of been a dramatic scene but, I couldn’t help but to chuckle at it. Other than that, I had no issue with the movie. The production team did a really good job of finishing the movie with a slight cliff hanger leaving the audience prepared for a sequel which is a good thing because no one likes a forced sequel either. Some may find that Godzilla needs to hit the gym, a bit thicker than the usual Godzilla everyone imagines, but it isn’t really an issue at all. This Godzilla is still pretty badass.

At the end of it all, ‘Godzilla (2014)’ is a must-see movie — a great way to start off the Summer/Spring of epic movies. If you get a chance to, watch it in IMAX 3D. I’m not much of a 3D lover, some movies just don’t need it but, Godzilla is one of those movies that watching it in 3D just makes it that much better.

In Theaters tomorrow, 05/16/2014.

F*** Me I’m Famous @ Story Nightclub WMC (Event) [Review]

Lazy Rich INterview - Fuck Me Im Famous Coverage 088
Sun down and lights up. Miami was ready for another edition of F*** Me I’m Famous hosted by David Guetta. Arriving at the club, you immediately notice the amount of beautiful people who want to be part of a night that’s to be remembered. Daddy’s Groove started off by applying nice high quality beats that increased intensity as the night matured. Party goers were hunting for harder deeper sounds and boy did they deliver. Daddy’s Groove was now clearing the way for another star. Up next was Nicky Romero wearing a cool backwards cap. He grabbed the mic, saluted fans and offered us the best experience possible executing a full set of signature tracks. The night hit its climax with David Guetta on stage. A complete show of lights, dancers and music lead by his iconic look didn’t give the attendees a chance to stop partying. During his set special friends like Afrojack and recent Grammy winner Cedric Gervais showed up to support him. The night was not over yet, Showtek was the last to show Miami how its done. The dutch duo who is currently on a success rampage closed the night the right way. Their unique and banging tracks were a perfect dose of adrenaline ending another action packed WMC party.

Review: D-Block & S-te-Fan & Isaac Ft. Chris Madin – Alive [Single]

Alive DBSTF DJ ISAAC Chris Madin

Featured on Corillo Commute Episode #12

Drop:
No watered down kicks here! DBSTF and Isaac bring a nice Hardstyle kick that really makes the drop pretty awesome. The heavy kick is pretty well contrasted with an upbeat melody and vocals which create a ‘feel good’ vibe to it.

Vocals:
Chris Madin’s vocal combined with the calm and almost Progressive House styled intro to create a great feel. I have a feeling that this track may become a summer anthem this year.

Originality:
It’s not watered down Hardstyle and it’s not a woodblock Big Room track so we give it a thumbs up in this category.

Sound Quality:
The vocals, the melody and the kick on this track all sound great. Nothing is out of place and it’s pretty balanced. As previously stated, the heavy kick is contrasted well by other aspects of the song which really balance it out. It’s a good track to introduce n00bs to; its not too Hard for a House fan but, Progressive enough to where someone isn’t completely alienated by the track.

Worth The Buy:
Yes! Especially since Hardstyle is on the rise, it’s great track to ease your way into the genre. Purchase it on iTunes today!

Headhunterz – Society @ Firestone Live (Event) [Review]

Headhunterz Interview- Event 033

What an amazing show Saturday night in Orlando. Headhunterz pulled off one of the best Hardstyle events the state of Florida has experienced so far. The energy his music released to the crowd was perfectly noticed and created an atmosphere full of good sounds, dance and unity. Its all up to the performer to take full control of his event and Headhunterz did just that. His interaction with the crowd and his moves reflected that he is humble, caring and true to his style; this is why he’s one of the most successful Hardstyle DJs. His set was made of songs that reminded us of his creative talented way of tailoring the best sounds and beats. Music fans with an open mind really appreciated and felt the happiness. Thanks to Firestone Live, Alliance Events and HTG Events for continuously supporting the Hardstyle movement. Stay tuned for the follow up interview we had a chance to conduct that night with Headhunterz.

Noisecontrollers – Ignition Firestone Live (Review) [Event]

Noiscecontrollers 115

As part of his U.S. tour Bas made his way down to Orlando in Florida. This was a much anticipated event that had the fans expecting to hear the best of Noisecontrollers. He got up on stage and the reaction of the crowd was amazing. Just knowing that a Legend of Hardstyle was about to start playing, had everyone super excited! His set consisted of Noisecontrollers’ hit songs and all the tracks from his new album “All Around” that’s out now ranking high on the charts. Overall an excellent show that took place at Firestone Live nightclub in Orlando with Alliance Events. This venue is supporting the Hardstyle movement and gaining a very good reputation.
