Daddy Yankee’s “Shaky Shaky” Goes Viral on Musical.ly

unnamed

Daddy Yankee released an old school reggaeton tracked titled, “Shaky Shaky”, a few week ago and it’s popularity has blown up in that short time.

The track has been trending on the Musical.ly app, a lip-singing video and social media app, and was featured as a contest on the app as well.

In addition to the popularity on the video app, the old school track produced by DJ Urba and Rome (pronounced: Rome-eh) has been picking up traction on Spotify; reaching the #1 spot on Latin and Reggaeton playlists.

Tempo’s Latest Track “Desperte” Aimed At Cosculluela & Tito El Bambino

Tempo - Desperte

Artillery Music is back with some great beats this time with recently released Puerto Rican rapper, Tempo. The Latin Hip Hop track produced by Artillery’s Nely “El Arma Secreta” takes aim at another Puerto Rican artist, Tito El Bambino, where Tempo refers to him by name. In addition to Tito, Tempo takes aim at Cosculluela, mocking his flow in a part of the song.

The flow was kind of forced by Tempo to fit the instrumental but, overall the song isn’t half bad. Although the song was good, something was missing — maybe a featuring by someone?

Rakim (RKM) Injured In Fight [Developing]

Rakim Injury Corillo Magazine Exclusive

Around 2:00AM EST on July 7th, Jose Nieves better known as Reggaetonero, Rakim or RKM, uploaded a selfie of himself showing an injury to the side of his eye. He accompanies the image with the following caption:

“I look like this and you knocked out. [Someone] pick him up. We are ready. Don’t get confused and [we won’t] get sidetracked, you [all ready] know hahaha”

The post was immediately met with comments from concerned fans and a small number of friends who asked about the picture. Rakim replied arrogantly replying with comments implying he knocked out his “opponent” saying “look for him, he’s laid out” and then confirming with a comment reading “Nockkoautt (Knockout)”

We have reached out asking for more information but, no reply as of yet. After taking down the original photo, RKM posted a photo of himself in a boxing outfit — seemed more of a calender-like photoshoot than action shots from an actual match. This photo has also been taken down. More information will be posted as we get it.

Reggaeton & Rolexes: What Is The Real Issue?

Farruko

As many Reggaeton fans already know, Farruko has recently found himself in an awkward situation. The Puerto Rican ‘Reggaetonero’ posted a picture of his Rolex on Instagram and was quickly pointed out as a fake by FakeWatchBusters, a ‘watch watchdog’ Instagram account. Following the accusations, Farruko as well as other artists like Ñengo Flow and Ñejo, began to backlash at ‘haters’ by posting pictures of their Rolexes and posting videos poking fun at the situation. Although, at the end of it all, the watch was fake and Farruko was essentially forced to buy a $13,000 USD Rolex in Miami the issue here isn’t necessarily counterfeit merchandise but, the lack of professionalism in the Reggaeton genre.

Farruko Real Rolex

Image: Farruko’s $13,000 USD Rolex

A popular talented artist like Farruko, who has made tracks with countless big name artists like Jose Feliciano and most recently Sean Paul, should not find himself in a social media ‘fight’ (or whatever you wish to call it) with a guy who runs a luxury watch humiliation / watchdog account. Reggaeton artists tend to come out of harsh neighborhoods where a lot of what they talk about comes from; drugs, weapons, etc. so, defending one’s street cred or social standing is normal. But, Reggaetoneros find themselves in positions of great influence with large fan bases throughout Latin America, Europe, Canada and the United States which tends to make them a good amount of money from shows, album sales and occasionally product endorsements. Put these two facts together and you get a bad mix, at least from a commercial standpoint.

Farruko, although he is a young artist, he is rising among the ranks in Reggaeton, rising to the caliber of big names like Daddy Yankee and Don Omar, which has allowed him to sell-out shows and create successful productions. With fame and money, comes the need for responsibility and especially, professionalism, which sadly a large majority of Reggaeton lacks. Professionalism isn’t just following through on contracts or doing press stops but, carrying yourself in a respectful manner in any situation. Reggaeton has grown into a vibrant and growing genre that has made a lot money with large markets in Colombia, Mexico and the United States. The time has come for the genre to start making professionalism a priority; if you’re making hundreds of thousands of dollars it is time to behave like you are. The use of adequate and effective management and public relations is a must in the genre. Situations like the one Farruko found himself in shouldn’t of never happened. Management or PR should of been contacted to clean up or it could of simply been ignored. Luckily, the situation wasn’t too much of a public relations disaster but, if something worse were to come up in the future it could compromise endorsements and future opportunities for Reggaetoneros to grow and make money. This issue, like counterfeit merchandise, won’t be fixed overnight but, it should evaluated by record labels, independent artists and their management from the top down since artists aren’t the only problem.

Baby Rasta & Gringo Debut Their Music Video “No Dices Na”

Reaching more than 180,000 views in just a few days, Baby Rasta & Gringo’s new music video is off to a good start. The Puerto Rican reggaeton duo not only put together a great track but, accompanied it with a music video with a story line to match.

Under the creative direction of Carlos Martin, DG Films, the music video tells a story of a hearing impaled woman who meets and falls in love with a man who has no idea about her condition, a smart and touching play on the lyrics.

Tempo takes aim at Cosculluela with new track “Chota Cos”

tempo chota cos tiraera

Puerto Rican rapper, Tempo, has released a ‘tiraera’ or ‘beef track’ taking aim at Cosculluela. IT isn’t clear why the beef started up; one says its because of money and the other because of disrepsect. Whatever the reason, Reggaeton hasn’t seen a good Tiraera since Nengo Flow and Cosculluela went at it a few years ago.
