Review: LA Riots & Polina – Kamikaze [Single]

LA Riots & Polina - Kamikaze (Original Mix)

Drop:
It isn’t a “HOLY SH*T WHERE DID THAT COME FROM” type of drop but, it is still pretty decent. What really stood out for me was the kick used, it has some pretty nice reverb. The trap part drops into a Dutch House / Moombah- like sound which is pretty dope to say the least.

Originality:
Yes, it sounds like a Big Room track but, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s unoriginal. What really stood out to me besides the vocals, was that instead of regular “Big House Percussion” LA Riots & Polina brought some Dutch House styled percussion which was a nice touch.

Sound Quality:
“Kamikaze” has a good mix of hard and soft sounds giving the track a good sense of contrast between “Drops” and the chorus.

Vocals:
Pretty good vocals on this track, the lyrics scream Sing-A-Long-ability so if this song blows up don’t be too surprised at the crowd’s feedback when you go to shows.

Worth The Buy/Download:
This is one of those tracks that sounds pretty decent but, doesn’t leave a huge impression on you. If the song receives enough playing time at shows and is pushed well, it has the possibility of being a hit, at least during Festival season. I personally would buy this track for Dutch House influenced Big Room feel of it, in other words the track isn’t too cliché.

Review: Swanky Tunes – Pump (Original Mix) [Single]

Swanky Tunes - Pump

Drop:
Swanky Tunes set us up for a really good drop with their intro and build up. I personally believed it was going to be something utterly amazing and mind blowing because it was so good but, when it finally dropped I wasn’t so blown away. It isn’t horrible but, it’s not amazing either. Leaves me in between a “Eh” and Echostage guy “wtf”.

Originality:
I wouldn’t say it isn’t unoriginal but, it is a bit weak on the whole “creativity’ side of things. It’s missing something.

Sound Quality:
The song doesn’t sound bad but, like I said before, it’s missing something. You get so excited for what’s to come and then you’re kind of disappointed. The sound of the intro and the build-up periods are great! The only issue I have is with the ‘drop’ part, it’s a buzz kill.

Worth The Buy/Download: (Purchase Here – Beatport)
Depends, if you’re a Swanky Tunes fan sure — do your thing. I personally wasn’t in love with this track, as in it’s not a track I would put on repeat or listen to everyday. I’ve heard better tracks from Swanky Tunes and sadly this isn’t another track I would add to my library.

Drop:
“You Make me wanna” dance. The drop on this track goes from a great build up to a smooth groovy SAW synth that just makes you want to dance — its great!

Originality:
Compared to what is out there now, Daddy’s Groove and Congorock’s collab is a welcomed change of pace.

Sound Quality:
“Synthemilk” has great sound quality. I listened to this track both on my desktop and in my car; the groovy synth sounds awesome with the right sound system — you really start to feel it.

Vocals:
Not really present besides the “You make me wanna” so we aren’t taking this into account.

Worth The Buy/Download:
Yes. Huge drops are cool and all but, it never hurts to have a track that you can simply just dance to.
