Yellow Claw – Amsterdam Trap Music Vol.2 (Preview Mix): Waka Flocka, Diplo & More

Yellow Claw - Amsterdam Trap Music Vol.2 (Preview Mix)

From Waka Flocka to Beenie Man, Yellow Claw’s upcoming release will not disappoint. As you can tell by the title, it’s trap but, Yellow Claw and LNY TNZ have teamed up for Hardstyle collabs before so you may hear some Hardstyle screeches here and there which are a pretty nice. My personal favorite track on this four track release is “Dancehall Soldier Ft. Beenie Man” because of the use of Brass-like sounds common in deep south trap music but, it also has some Dutch House influence and Beenie Man’s verse isn’t overbearing — it’s a nice balance of different sounds.

2. Yellow Claw – Kaolo Pt.2
3. Yellow Claw – Never Dies Ft. Lil’ Eddie

Marvin Gaye – Mercy Mercy Me (Disciples Remix) [Deep House]

Disciples Mercy

Three guys known as the producer trio, Disciples, have created an positive deep house remix of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me” Keeping elements from the original song, the Disciples’ real addition to the remix was the catchy upbeat, borderline tropical, melody that will surely be stuck in your head. Best of all, the remix has now been put up as free download. Cop this free remix today — a great addition to a chill / positive vibe playlist.

Who Will Be 2014’s DJ Mag Top DJ?

coachella14c_039

Every year DJs begin their long campaigns for votes filled with free mixes, bootleg packs and sometimes even original tracks in an effort to gain a spot, move up or become “The World’s Top DJ” on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list.

It’s basically become a tradition in the scene now; DJs go all out, blogs (like us) speculate and post information and freebies that DJs may give out and fans vote. Why all the noise for a little list? Started in 2004 with just 34 DJs on the list, ten years later, the list has grown to 100 with new up and coming DJs being added to the list every year. It is a chance for new DJs on to make a name of themselves besides the number of followers, plays on streaming sites and number of festivals played — in essence another selling point for tours or shows. The list also gives established DJs an extra ‘umph’ on ticket sales and bookings with club promoters using words like “One of the World’s Top DJs…” or the ultimate sell-out phrase, “World’s Number One DJ” And of course, fans get to vote for those DJs who made their year memorable and their commutes (Our podcast) to work or school bearable.

So who is going to be this year’s 2014 Top DJ? Dutch DJ, Hardwell, was crowned number one last year taking over what David Guetta held in 2012. This year I believe the number one spot isn’t so secure. I was lucky enough to see Hardwell at Echostage in December of 2013 and his production quality was great (not mention some of his chart topping tracks) but, in 2014, Hardwell has focused more on touring with the I AM HARDWELL tour, which could be a good thing, but, a lot of times fans tend to look at what music you’ve released than how many shows you had. For example, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, jumped 32 spots last year with releases that were played basically by every DJ like “Mammoth” and “Turn it Up”

Looking at other top DJs on the list; Afrojack, Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero will most likely stay stagnant or move among themselves but, Tiesto may have a shot at reaching number one again. Although David Guetta has released successful singles this year, the battle for top DJ will most likely land between Tiesto and Hardwell. Both have released successful tracks all year, “Dare You” from Hardwell and “Red Lights” from Tiesto, and both have had countless sold out shows and residencies in Las Vegas and other ‘EDM’ hotspots. The top DJ spot will basically come down to who can get the vote out the best.

In every election, there is always a wild card, and in this case the wild card for the top spot in my opinion would be Zedd. The young German producer has topped charts around the world with songs I don’t even have to name because you already know them, even going Platinum with his single “Clarity” Zedd would have to make a big jump though. Currently at #24, Zedd would have to attempt to repeat what he did last year, where he jumped 27 spots, to reach number one. I don’t think it would be too hard for Zedd to make that jump with all the air time, TV show appearances and even commercials he appears on — I mean the guy was the MTV Movie Awards this year.

The number one spot decision will come down to the fans, like you and me. Sure, freebies and mixes are cool and all but, at the end of the day fans will vote for the DJs who they think made the last 365.25 days of the year awesome, fun and memorable — at least from a music stand point. We all are touched by music; whether it be that DJ that was playing when you had that awesome night out with your friends that you still talk about today or that song that almost broke the repeat feature on your phone. These things, which seem cheesy and all, are going to reflect on who becomes number one this year. Who will you be voting for?

The polls for voting are open, vote for your five favorite DJs today!

Top 3 Tracks For The Weekend #3: Frontliner, Moska & Nicky Jam

This week we have chosen three tracks for more than three genres. On the top of our list is Frontliner’s “TBA 2”, an upbeat Hardstyle tune. The list also includes Zion & Lennox’s new Reggaeton single, “Solo Tu (Remix)” featuring Nicky Jam and J Balvin. Finally, but not least, is a track off Moska’s new EP with Mad Decent, “Duma”, a mix of various genres mixed into one — an interesting and fun track to add to any weekend playlist.

1. Frontliner – TBA 2 (One More Time)

2. Zion & Lennox – Solo Tu (Ft. Nicky Jam & J Balvin)

3. Moska – Duma

Review: Frontliner – The Summer Of Frontliner (3/14) (2014)

Frontliner & Kristina Antuna - Galaxies Collide (Original Mix)

Frontliner has released a three songs of his new project titled, “The Summer of Frontliner”, which, as you can imagine, is a good addition to a summer playlist. The most enjoyable songs on Fronliner’s new EP were, “Galaxies Collide” and “TBA 2” which is currently #2 on Hardstyle.Com’s top tracks. The melody on “TBA 2” is borderline memorizing, interrupted only by the drop with the hard hitting kicks that Hardstyle is known for. What I enjoyed the most about “Galaxies Collide” was how the instrumental and the vocals came together, especially on the build ups.

Q-Dance Releases Their Cinematic “X-Qlusive Legends” Trailer

Instead of typical slow-motion compilations of girls with flags on people’s shoulders, Q-Dance has taken a different approach with their trailer for X-Qlusive Legends event.

The cinematic trailer reminds me of an Expendables trailer meets GQ; well dressed individuals who look like they’ve done some sh*t in the past — a nice change of pace from regular ol’ boring event trailers. The trailer features Headhunterz, Brennan Heart and many other Hardstyle super-stars that will be part of the line up at X-Qlusive Legends, an event held in Amsterdam this October.

4th of October 2014 – Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam.

Entrance ticket: EUR 48,50

Blasterjaxx and D-Block & S-te-Fan Working On A Track

Dblock S te fan Blasterjaxx

Both duos shared photos of themselves in studio working on a collaborative track. It is speculated that a 128-130 BPM Hardstyle, or ‘House-style’, tune will be created but, nothing yet has been confirmed.

On the fan side, feelings are a bit mixed. Some fans welcome the collaborative effort while others bash it and bash it hard. Hardstyle is growing at a fast rate since it’s introduction to the ‘EDM Scene’ in the United States creating collaborative tracks like Krewella and Headhunterz and Coone on Dim Mak Records. Hopefully as this trend continues to grow Hardstyle doesn’t lose too much of it’s identity to Big Room-like fads — it would be a tragedy to lose those hard hitting kicks man.

Tempo’s Latest Track “Desperte” Aimed At Cosculluela & Tito El Bambino

Tempo - Desperte

Artillery Music is back with some great beats this time with recently released Puerto Rican rapper, Tempo. The Latin Hip Hop track produced by Artillery’s Nely “El Arma Secreta” takes aim at another Puerto Rican artist, Tito El Bambino, where Tempo refers to him by name. In addition to Tito, Tempo takes aim at Cosculluela, mocking his flow in a part of the song.

The flow was kind of forced by Tempo to fit the instrumental but, overall the song isn’t half bad. Although the song was good, something was missing — maybe a featuring by someone?
