Special Message from Major Lazer & “Lazer Strikes Back Vol 1” Download

Major Lazer sends the following message:

The upcoming Major Lazer album, “FREE THE UNIVERSE,” has been been kidnapped by General Rubbish and we all must embark on an epic journey to upset his evil plan so Major Lazer can free the universe as planned with the album.

Our fans are the most important part of what makes Major Lazer what it is. It is with that consideration that “FREE THE UNIVERSE” will not be released this month as previously scheduled. We never want to disappoint our supporters but circumstances out of our control have made us unable to keep the intended date. For anyone disappointed, we are truly apologetic and we promise that this hiccup has only made what we have planned for the album stronger. We tried extremely hard to keep the date but it was ultimately decided that rushing the album would have been unfair to you and everyone who worked so hard on it. An iTunes exclusive pre-order in the US will launch next Tuesday, 2/26 which will feature an instant grat download of the forthcoming Major Lazer single “Watch Out for This (Bumaye).”

In the mean time, please download LAZER STRIKES BACKÂ Vol. 1

We will be putting out 3 volumes of rare/unreleased music on-line until album release. Major Lazer’s FREE THE UNIVERSE WORLD TOUR starts next week.

Bajofondo Announce North American Tour

Washington, D.C. – Latin Grammy-winning band Bajofondo announce they will tour throughout North America in March and April in support of their forthcoming album Presente due out March 5 on Sony Masterworks. The band creates the contemporary sound of the Rio de La Plata, the river that separates and unites Argentina and Uruguay. Their inimitable sound uses the region’s rich musical legacy of tango, folklore, and milonga as a foundation for their genre-defying compositions that fearlessly cross-pollinate them with other styles. On stage, Bajofondo’s eight members use traditional instruments like bandoneón alongside live video mixing, samples, and scratches to spellbinding effect. The North American tour is a chance to see one of the most acclaimed live acts in the world that recently drew hundreds of thousands at an outdoor performance in Buenos Aires.

Bajofondo have just released the video for Presente’s lead single “Pide Piso” yesterday exclusively on MTV Iggy & Terra.com in the U.S. The video was directed by the band founder and producer Gustavo Santaolalla. The animated video imagines the track as a 1980s 8-bit video game with romance on the streets of Latin America at its heart.

Watch the video:

Presente is an epic 21-track high-energy tour de force that blends a multitude of traditionally dichotomous genres seamlessly. Gustavo Santaolalla, winner of a Golden Globe, 2 Oscars, 2 Grammys, and 12 Latin Grammys, describes the album as “a trip that takes you from the most magical to the most epic urban moments.”

Presente is Bajofondo as you’ve never heard it before! Unlike previous efforts that dropped energetic dance floor bombs from the get-go, the new album opens on a low-key, string-based note: it’s the mysterious beginning of a brand new Bajofondo trip that takes the listener to the high-octane energy of its live shows and its ingenious experimentation in the studio. The production team of Santaolalla and guitarist Juan Campodónico have once again captured the common links and individual features of the music found on both sides of the river, but this time on a decidedly international approach that turned Presente into BAJOFONDO’s most ambitious album to date.

Bajofondo @ SXSW

Bajofondo will perform at three showcases during this year’s SXSW and will also do a live broadcast of KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. Details will follow shortly.

North American Tour 2013:

March 18 Los Angeles, CA @ Henry Fonda Theaters
March 19 San Francisco, CA @ Bimbos
March 21 Seattle, WA @ Neumos
March 24 Minneapolis, MN @ Cedar Cultural center
March 25 Chicago , IL @ Old Town Scool of Folk
March 27 Boston, MA @ Paradise
March 28 New York, NY @ Stage48
April 2 Washington DC @ 9:30 Club
April 4 San Juan, Puerto Rico @ Cuartel De Ballaja

Zedd – Clarity (Brillz Remix) (Preview) [Electro Trap]

Washington, D.C. – Yes, really its a trap remix of “Clarity”. Zedd has slowly been releasing previews of some of the remixes for his “Clarity Remixes” album, including Tiesto’s remix, which many would call somewhat weak, and now Brillz’ trap remix. Although the original song has a progressive feel to it with vocals that reflect that, the Trap remix doesn’t sound half bad with an amazing build up and nice application of trap beats to the vocals. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.
