Video: DARPA Legged Squad Support System (LS3) [Cool Stuff]

Washington DC – This video depicts field testing of the DARPA Legged Squad Support System (LS3). The LS3 is designed to help troops with the transport of gear that usually slows their travel through rough terrain, letting them travel easier and faster. The video shows that the LS3 is capable of doing this through rough terrain and still operate. The way in which the drone walks and looks resembles the “cow thing” in Metal Gear solid, as shown in the image below — pretty cool how fast reality is catching up to science fiction. Leave your comments with your thoughts on this new drone.

Video: Nokia Lumia 820 Windows Phone 8

Washington DC – The 4.87 inches tall, 2.69 inches wide, and 0.39 inch thick Nokia Lumia phone is the smallest of the Lumia phones (820 and 920). The Lumia 820 will be using a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor to run the new Windows 8 Mobile Software. Nokia Lumia phones have dominated the Windows Phones market ever since the launch of the Lumia 920 running on Windows 7 Mobile. Look at all the cool colors? Well the back covers of the phones can be switched out and replaced with a color of your choosing so the headache of choosing a single color is no longer an issue, a great option for those who love to use their phone as an accessory (yes people do that).
The phone is equipped with a 8-megapixel camera with a LED flash and a 4X Digital Zoom capable of recording in 1080p video. As for talk time and battery life, the Nokia Lumia 820 uses a 1,650mAh battery which according to Nokia last 8 to 14 hours (depending on use of course). Another interesting feature about the battery is its ability to be wirelessly charged with the recharging pad (sold separately). We have yet to receive information regarding its base price and release date but, it should be released soon. It is expected to not be as expensive as most smartphones, as it is considered to be a “mid range” priced phone.

Apple Launches Their “Genius” Commercials

Washington DC – You may have noticed yesterday, like I did, that during the commercial breaks of the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, an event with over 1 Billion people tuned in, Apple aired a new commercial personality for the Mac computer. This new personality is the “Apple Genius”, what they call staff at Apple stores who help customers learn how to use their macs. The first commercial I saw was the airline one called “Mayday (Shown Below)” where the Apple Genius helps a man in desperate need with his iMovie anniversary video, I found it pretty creative — like the other commercials as well.

Apple, a company making more than $60 Billion a year, has an amazing marketing team that pushes out memorable commercials to promote their products and the Apple Genius guy is no exception. Down below are the latest 3 commercials featuring the Apple guy, personally I enjoy the Labor Day one.

“Mayday”

“Labor Day”

“Basically”
